In accordance with Article 5 of the Comprehensive Peace, Diplomatic and Normalization Treaty between the United Arab Emirates and the State of Israel, the contracting parties enter into bilateral agreements in areas of mutual interest for which they have agreed to the following provisions. These provisions are attached to the treaty and are included in them. Nearly 700 officials, diplomats, political figures and guests participated on Tuesday in the signing of peace agreements aimed at normalizing relations between the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Israel. The head of the Israeli settler group Yesha Council, David Elhayani,[he], accused Mr. Netanyahu of „betraying“ some of his most loyal supporters and of „deceiving half a million people in the region and hundreds of thousands of voters.“ Oded Revivi [he], the mayor of Efrat, a settlement of more than 9,000 people south of Jerusalem, supported Netanyahu, arguing that „the Israeli agreement to defer the application of Israeli law in the Jewish settlements of Judea and Samaria was a fair price to pay,“ adding that it could change the way settlements are viewed. Beit El Settlement Mayor Shai Alon and Shomron Regional Council President Yossi Dagan also criticized the agreement. The News International reported that Pakistan, after consultation and consideration of the pros and cons of the evolution of Pakistan`s national interests, would take a position on the agreement on Israel and the United Arab Emirates. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi avoided speaking on the sensitive issue. Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi said the agreement would pave the way for peace agreements with other nations and welcomed the suspension of unilateral annexation.
Yesh Atid`s chairman Yair Lapid welcomed the agreement as a „important step“ for normalization with the UAE and said it showed mutual agreements are the path to be path to be path for Israel`s relations with other nations, instead of unilateral steps like annexation. The president of the Israeli Workers` Party, Amir Peretz, also shared this view and said that Israel`s development and security were in such agreements. He hoped for a similar agreement with the Palestinians. The South African Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation regretted that the agreement was reached without consultation with the Palestinians, although the agreement is linked to their future, and noted that the agreement did not guarantee a permanent suspension of the annexation of parts of the West Bank. „These visionary leaders will sign the first two peace agreements between Israel and the Arab state in more than a quarter of a century,“ Trump said. „In the history of Israel, there have only been two such agreements, and now we have obtained two in one month.“ Nabil Abu Rudeineh, a senior adviser to President Mahmoud Abbas, read an official statement in which Palestinian leaders rejected the agreement and called it treason against Jerusalem, the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Palestinians. The Palestinian Authority (PNA) recalled its ambassador from Abu Dhabi. Palestinian leaders also said that Hamas leader called Ismail Haniyeh Abbas and rejected the agreement, which Reuters called a „rare manifestation of unity.“ While Mr. Trump did not mention the Palestinians at the signing ceremony, he acknowledged that the normalization agreements between Israel and Arab nations were part of a broader diplomatic effort to negotiate the Palestinians to negotiate a peace agreement.
